Disney's Turning Point
While some may argue that Disney's career was stifled during his years in Kansas City, it was his time spent there that provided an important turning point in the life of the young entrepreneur. Walt created lasting friendships with many talented animators and businessmen like himself in Kansas City, and most of these artists went on to form the creative force behind the Disney Corporation. Without his time in Kansas City, Walt would not have met Ubbe "Ub" Iwerks, a longtime collaborator and friend; Walt would not have gone bankrupt, an experience that was certainly disheartening, but also important to his growth as a businessman and artist. If Disney hadn't gone bankrupt in Kansas City, he never would have moved to Hollywood and found success. Most importantly, without his time in Kansas City, Walt would not have fed and nurtured a little mouse named Mortimer, and the world would be without one of the most beloved cartoon characters ever to be created.
